20 Things

November 24th, 2006 at 10:27 pm

I saw that a lot of people have done this. Lets try to fit in, right? No better way to get introduced.

1. Yes, I'm really eighteen. I make no apologies for that.

2. I'm Canadian. I make no apologies for that either.

3. It looks like I'm heading into the IT field. Completely blind, for the most part.

4. I hope this whole "computer" fad is over soon. I really hate the things.

5. Currently, I work at a mid-sized computer repair shop as a technician.

6. I've been at my current job for a bit more than a year, but don't plan on staying much longer. There's no money in service.

7. I love cats, but don't have any.

8. One of the only things I'm passionate about is expensive cars. It's unfortunate for me that they're so....expensive!

9. If I had the grades in school, I would be pursuing a career in the military.

10. If I could return to any age it would be five years old. You never know how great things are until you've passed them.

11. I've never been out of the country, due to a lack of time and money.

12. My name is not actually Carter.

13. I have advanced insomnia. I sleep once every three or four days.

14. I don't date. I don't see the point of dating so young.

15. My favorite movies are Donnie Darko and A Beautiful Mind. Eraserhead is also good in the right state of mind.

16. I haven't read a book in the past 6 years. It's too hard to find the time for something that seems so pointless.

17. I don't play video games or sports either. I don't cook, write or anything. All I do is work. Does that make me dull or admirable?

18. I don't own a suit.

19. I have a catfish named Hoover.

20. Talking about myself for half an hour is bound to make me feel guilty. Frown

#4, I don't understand what you mean by "fad". Computers has become more and more of an integral part of our society. They may have been a fad decades ago, but it's most definitely here to stay now.

Um yeah, #8 is going to hurt the pocketbooks, there. Smile I like cars too. I really do! However, I don't like them so much so that I would actually buy one. Except maybe an Ariel Atom... maybe... if I ever hit my first million. Big Grin Nah, who am I kidding. At most, I'll probably be driving a Camry. Stick Out Tongue

#9... doesn't make any sense? I hate to say it, but you don't need a high aptitude to make it in the military. Oh wait... but you're Canadian. Maybe things are different there?

#13, how does that work? Do you feel sleepy at all? Do you feel tired at all? Would you say that's more of a blessing or a curse?

#14... it's not a bad thing to get out there and socialize. Especially if you find someone you like, regardless if it's a guy or a girl. I mean, I don't technically do anything different with my guy buddies than I do with women whom I've dated. (Except going to the gun range. Only one woman did that with me, but now we're divorced. Big Grin) Of course, I don't date men, but that's beside the point. Stick Out Tongue

Anyways, dating doesn't have to be a bad thing. I think it's a bad thing to spend time with someone or you like. If it helps, don't call it a date. Call it "hanging out". Smile

#15, I see you have a peculiar taste in movies. Stick Out Tongue

#16, I don't read books much either, but I would not go so far as to say that they are pointless.

#17 is fine if that's how you truly enjoy spending your time.

#18, my father used to tell me that every man should have a suit. Sooner or later, you're going to go on job interview and visit functions, marriages, and formals where the suit will come in very handy. And when that time comes, you don't want to be stuck rushing around for a cheap rental. At least that's how my father feels about that. What you think about this is entirely up to you.

#19, I take it he's not on the menu? Big Grin

#20, I can relate as well. I always feel awkward everytime I write something on my journal, because it feels like I'm somehow "bragging" about myself or something. However, right now, I am trying to cope with my divorce and my blog is really about trying to reach out more and take my mind off of it, as well as a means of catharsis. So, in that sense, I decided that I would put aside my feelings of awkwardness I may have and simply type exactly what is on my mind....

Thanks for sharing! As you can see from my response, I think you have a very interesting list. Big Grin

i think it's great that you are interested...

#11. that's ok... at your age i'd never been out of the country too... since then (i'm 24) i've only been out of the country twice and only because my mom took me along to help her on her trips and paid for my airfare...

#13 is really interesting... i've never really known anybody with insomnia like that... i know people who only sleep a couple hours a night but nobody who wouldn't sleep for days...

#18 i don't own a suit either... and neither does my husband...

    #19 that's a cute name for a catfish... i like it =)

#20 i think a lot of us feel that way about blogging...that's ok... i find it very interesting to read them and it makes me feel like we kinda know each other on the site... it's a great place to hang out so i hope you stay and enjoy it...
